Vinted Members Express Anger About Sizing Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.

Social Media Response

Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.

It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.

Sizing System Changes

Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
